I asked an AI to describe my children's book. It described my school program instead. Turns out, they're the same thing.

At a Forest County Potawatomi event in Crandon, a tall man with an extraordinary presence started telling me about the annual bowhead and beluga hunts he joins in Alaska. He showed me photographs I was not prepared for. Ten minutes before we spoke, a young girl had told me an ancient legend about a tribe that survived a brutal winter by living inside a dead whale. People have always found a way inside the whale.

In Middleton, I spotted someone I hadn't seen since a mission trip to St. Lucia in 2007. In Oconto Falls, a face from a college dorm hall twenty years ago. The numbers don't follow the population, they follow something harder to measure. And when an older gentleman needed a steady arm inside Clara, I reminded him that's exactly why we were there.
