The Stevens Point Whale Invasion

It was such a fun weekend here in Central Wisconsin. Our gray whale successfully completed its invasion of downtown Stevens Point. It was all part of the Stevens Point event, "Discover Downtown," which featured many of the great local businesses that called the city their home. They even shut down the entire downtown area, and I think you could say we were front and center.

Our whale looked pretty awesome taking up a whole bunch of space on the street in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

We were hired by the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum and sponsored by TDS. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, touting mid-80's and not a cloud in the sky. Out on the street, we inflated the whale, and folks visiting the downtown event, once they realized they could go inside the whale, began lining up. For a small donation (that went to the children's museum), we gave guests a tour of the whale. If they paid for an additional ticket, they got to take part in the extra programming we hosted upstairs in the museum's party room. Every hour, I did a thirty minute presentation and everyone got to see and touch the Megalodon tooth, dolphin skull, narwhal tusk, and more. The orca skull was quite popular and many kids got their pictures taken inside its mouth.

TDS had their booth right next to the whale and were giving away whale squishies and other prizes. There were lots of vendors out on the streets, an ice cream salesman, and even someone selling fossils, which was right up my alley.
